Stained Glass and Size 10

Sarah persuaded me to get this dress. Not that it took much persuasion! It looked so pretty on her that as soon as I saw it hit the sale in December, I snapped it up. If you're tempted to do the same, bear in mind her wise words: size down. At least two sizes. Unless you're a fan of smocky frocks. (I'm not).

I'm normally a size 14 and this one is a size 10 and it's still loose.  I could probably have got away with a size 8 (Ha! That'd be the only time I'd ever have one of those in my wardrobe!) but I initially bought this to wear on Christmas Day and given the amount of roast potatoes and stuffing ducks I managed to shovel into my face, the extra stretch was needed! It pleases me greatly to be wearing a size 10, even if it isn't a real size 10.

It has a touch of the Magic Eye picture about it. People seem to like it on first glance, then five minutes later they'll have a closer look and go "is that stained glass windows on your dress?".  And I say "yes, yes it is," and skip off happily.

Stained glass dress - ASOS (currently available here in the ASOS sale for a very respectable £21)

  1. I think I might need this dress now it's reduced. Hope it's still there after payday. I've been looking for a nice plain red cardi for ages. Next had one at Christmas but only in sizes 12 and 18 grrr x

  10. That's so pretty- super tempted to try sizing down on the bike printed dress from SugarhillBoutique that Sarah has- I need it in my life, but I don't *do* smocks. Loving the 'magic eye' quality about the dress, definitely good fun!

  13. Asos have been mental in their sizing lately, I had to get a 6 in that smocky fox one and it was still too big for me, so I had to get rid :(

  15. That's a pretty fabby dress. I love stupid sizing like that...even although we know it isn't 'real' it's fun for a moment! I'd probably need a 14 then...which is sadly out of stock. Might have to stalk it.
