All The Patterns

Tuesday, 27 January 2015

We've all been there, haven't we?

You put on what you think is a lovely outfit, prance around in it feeling fab all day, merrily snap some outfit photos and then look at them on your computer screen only to discover that someone has replaced your face with a moon.

An actual moon. With really unflattering specs on.

And although you are still getting used to said specs because they're much bigger than your other ones, they managed to look all fun and vaguely trendy when you took photos of them before. They don't look that bad in the mirror. So how has the camera made them transform your face into something rather terrifying?

Ok, ok, perhaps you haven't all been there. This is probably something only familiar to glasses wearers. The fact I had no makeup on didn't help either. But still, it's VERY UNFAIR. I've only got one tolerable outfit photo out of the whole bunch.

I nearly scrapped the whole lot but the new (old) coat is too gorgeous not to share and I'm rather fond of some of the #wardrobezoo prints that have sneaked in on the other parts of my body.

The joys of doing some ironing for the first time in months: you discover all sorts of amazing things you'd totally forgotten about! Also plenty of things that you realise you're never actually going to wear...

And on that note, if you're a similar size to me and are in the mood for swapping some of those things in your wardrobe that you never quite get round to wearing, I'm signing up for Janet and Steph's Big Blog Clothes Swap. It's not just clothes, everything is considered: shoes, accessories, bags. I'm so looking forward to it!

Yay for Yellow

Thursday, 5 June 2014

Spring always seems to equal pastels. As a paler-than-pale person, I'm not generally a big fan (obvious exception made for minty green).  I need no help looking washed out!

Sometimes you just fancy wearing a lot of yellow though, don't you?  Well, I do.  It's pretty.

No point over-analysing clothes when all you need to say is: they're pretty and I like them.

Yay for yellow!

Potter, Peter & Puddleduck

Another day, another rediscovered dress...

I hadn't forgotten about this Beatrix Potter dress exactly. You can't really forget that Peter Rabbit is living in your wardrobe, can you? It's more that it was lurking in the sad end of my wardrobe with the size 12 dresses that sort of fitted at one point and now definitely don't fit. It's worth trying them on every now and then though, just to see if they surprise you.

This did! Ok, it could do with being a bit less tight over my dreaded lower stomach area but at some point in my life I need to stop caring about that. It ain't going away without a tummy tuck. I did have to do a bit of a mincey wiggle around the office all day due to the fit of it but that's probably partly due to the style. I never wear shift dresses so I'm not used to having my legs confined like that.

It's been almost two years since I last blogged it and considering I haven't dieted since then, I don't think the fit looks that much different. Bit tighter, yes, but if a handmade shift dress still fits you then things aren't too bad.

Day Three

Wednesday, 15 August 2012

So it's Day Three and I'm rocking the oh-so-stylish wifebeater and open shirt combo today.  Yup, I am no more organised than I was yesterday.  Did you expect anything different?  Have you met me?  I am a complete last-minute lucy.

I actually rather like it though.  The shirt is ever such a pretty colour and I think it counteracts any potential slob factor.

But what's new about this outfit, I hear you cry.  You have seen the jeans and the boots many times.  Although the shirt is newish, I'm pretty sure I've blogged it before.  Well, the new thing is THIS:

Meet my new bag and the guardian of the #wardrobezoo.  I am not usually much of a handbag sort of girl but you have to agree that she is fairly amazing. Plus she totally reminds me of Owlma from Greenclaws (my favourite kids tv show of all time).

"Twit twoo, twoo, twit twit twoo?"

I'm going to see The Importance of Being Earnest tonight so frankly there is no better occasion on which to debut a new handbag.  Even Lady Bracknell couldn't disapprove of this one.

Hello from Herefordshire

Saturday, 20 November 2010

So then, the wi-fi works!

In typical form, I've managed to balance things out by killing some form of technology and MELTED the tv remote control by not realising it was on top of the fire. I am exceedingly dim sometimes.

It's quite dead.

The cottage is lovely and I'm having a fab time so far - shall do general holiday photos at some point this week if you won't be bored by them, but for today I shall just do a quick outfit post. I really must get more comfortable with someone taking my picture as I feel really self conscious still and so all the photos taken of me today look awful and really unflattering! Ho hum. Back to the tripod it is.

Jumper - H&M
Shorts - H by Henry Holland at Debenhams
Tights - M&S I think. They're a lot darker and greener than they're showing up in these pics.
Boots - Evans
Coat - Tu
Ribbon - from a Lush giftset
Socks - Dorothy Perkins
Nails - Barry M in Racing Green (v. difficult to photograph properly!)

I quickly replaced the ribbon with a knitted headband/earwarmer thingy as it was so flipping cold today but no pics of that. There will probably be some soon though because I rather love it. Not as much as I love these shorts though. Aren't they great? 25% off as well - gotta love random sale weeks.
