The Last Days of Summer

Friday, 26 September 2014

Fellow fashion bloggers, I love you, I really do, but sometimes I feel very left out.

You're all prancing around in coatigans and chunky boots and big old scarves and sleeveless coats, kicking up leaves, drinking pumpkin spice lattes and stocking up on conkers to ward off the spiders. Me? Well...

I love autumn, don't get me wrong, but I also love a bargain. When you see a beautiful summer frock in the sale and can't resist buying it, you then have to wear it straight away. This is the law.  It would be criminal to shove it in the wardrobe until next year.

Overseeing a random Twitter convo (as you do), I clicked on a link to the clearance section of the Boden website to be all nosy about what dresses they were oohing over. Not somewhere I've ever really considered shopping before cos, well, I'm poor and Boden stuff is undoubtedly lovely but quite expensive. Or so I thought! Turns out they're one of the few retailers who actually discount their sale items properly (hurrah! More places should do this) and so this exceptionally pretty Matilda dress was mine for the bargainous price of £17.60.

I hereby christen it my cheerleader dress.  I'd make a terrible cheerleader.  Huge fan of Bring It On but lacking the necessary pep and enthusiasm about life to cheer properly.

In similarly summery spirit, I'm still wearing sandals. Ish. They're summer shoes anyway. No winter boots here, not yet anyway.

  4. Ooh lovely dress! Wasn't thinking of cheerleaders when I saw the first pic, but of old-fashioned village greens and punting on the river. It is definitely too nice to leave in the wardrobe, I reckon you should "winterise" it with tights and a jumper on top :)

  5. Oooo pretty. Wear it until you can no longer feel your legs due to cold and then switch to boots, scarves etc... fashion bloggers be damned! Excellent dress, excellent Boden for doing sales properly!

  7. That dress is beautiful on you, what a fabulous buy! I try and wear summery stuff all year round, grey cardis and woolly tights and all those other weird things that bloggers obsess about depress the pants off me. xxx

  11. Thanks...I just spend £26 in boden. Lol. I had been eyeing up the nancy beach print dress forever, but I agree boden is a little rich for me! But I was amazed too they they actually properly discount! £26 is far more acceptable than £89!

  16. Brill dress, definitely cheerleader (in a good way), rah, rah, rah! I can't afford Boden full price either..my wee nephew has always been a Boden poster boy (from his richer Auntie-my sister), I did get a sale dress though (THAT I can afford). We were discussing spiders the other day and my 7 year old nephew proclaimed "CONKERS" like an old man, "that's what you need...Auntie K gets them from work" err no she works in a gift shop, but yes she hates spiders. The damn things don't work though. Or at least not well enough!
