I was hoping that the arrival of March would mean that I could start to venture into some springtime dresses. Ha! It's been freezing recently! I've had to pile the layers back on, dig out my gloves and scarves and scrape the ice off the car in the mornings. Luckily I have a lovely new charity shop find to keep me warm.
I have no idea what I'm doing with my hand here but I was having a very bad, fat sort of day (can you tell from the face of doom?) and I look thinner here so the photo clearly has to be used!
Jumper - vintage, 100% cashmere, via Oxfam
Shorts - George sale
Brogues - River Island sale
Necklace - Stolen Thunder
resemblance to Rupert the Bear - entirely unintentional! I won this fab necklace and a matching ring in Jen's giveaway last year and the extremely nice folks at Stolen Thunder have been in touch with me since to offer up a shiny discount code.
Never fear, my integrity has not been compromised - no freebies have come my way (still haven't quite worked out my stance on those). I just like to let you all know about shops that I approve of, plus I thought you might appreciate the chance of a discount on some lovely jewellery! Use the code FROCKS at checkout for the next month and you'll get 15% off.
They'll be taking custom orders soon and I can't wait; I have a very cool present planned for a friend. She reads this though so I can't reveal what it is just yet...
Anyway, here are some of my faves:
Tiny Birdcage Necklace
Upright Owl ring
Almost as good a word as trollop, yes?
Babushka Face stud earrings
Go forth and treat yourself...
I love the word floozy. Also strumpet and harlot, or bird of paradise if you are going totally Heyer.
ReplyDeleteWill email you re the 19th and 20th, I should be free so it would be great to meet for a cuppa while you have some hours to kill! xx
I love the Stolen Thunder jewellery, such a pretty and unusual idea.
ReplyDeleteIt's been so cold hasn't it!! I had started to think about loafers, and tea dresses, but brrrr gimme back my boots and cardi.
xx
Nice shoes. The jewellery is pretty too!
ReplyDeleteK xx
You look like a sexy golfer not Rupert Bear! Love the plaid shorts and the yellow jumper.
ReplyDeleteI demand you have a "trollop" ring custom made, it would be fabulous. xxx
love the yellow jumper, so sweet! I adore your stolen thunder jewellery, I just bought myself the Russian doll necklace using Gem's discount coder, it arrived today and I adore it!!!
ReplyDeleteBow Dream Nation xx
Oh yes, floozy. Excellent word. Love the yellow jumper and it's cashmere - even better. Off to look on that website. xx
ReplyDeleteLove the cute shorts! I love having a hunt in charity shops, its amazing what you can find. Thanks for following me :D

I neeeeeeed a ring that says Strumpet! Its what my boyfriend calls me all the time haha :)
ReplyDeleteHa, you don't look anything like Rupert! Love those shoes and all the jewellery, esp the little face earrings :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh i love the owl ring and the earrings, sooo cute. Fat days are rubbish aren't they, just blueeghh x
ReplyDeleteFeeling smug now Alex, Spring has arrived here, sunny and warm! Mind you we are a lot further South, I am sure sunny, spring days will be with you soon.

Adorable outfit!! I love the wooden jewelry, that necklace is so adorable ;)
ReplyDeleteI love the necklace, and the jumper looks very snug indeed- great find. The owl ring has certainly caught my eye! x
ReplyDeletelooove that owl ring!
ReplyDeleteand i really like this outfit..rupert the bear is cool, just for the record! :)
Love the anchor brooch and the stud earrings, so cute!
ReplyDeletethat necklace is amazing! x
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, I look out the window & see people in hardly any clothes then get outside myself & its blimmin' freezing! I love your shorts & the necklace & ring are just fab...I love stolen thunder but have never bought anything, so I might have to use your discount code as an excuse. I NEED that owl ring :)
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't put a bet on the game but I really wish I had now. My boyf's Dad asked me what I though the score would be so I said 3-1 & he just laughed at me! It was so nerve wracking especially after their last meeting & all the drama/yellow cards that went on...such a shame about the Man U goal at the end, 3-0 would have been even more satisfying! :)
Hoorah for Stolen Thunder! I just love and adore them so very much. So unique and SO pretty. The owl ring is a favourite of mine.
ReplyDeleteLove your necklace and ring combo! x
Loving the whole outfit. You look far from fat.
ReplyDeleteYour jumper is lovely what a great find.
Ooh pretty jewellery! I always look thinner in photos too, its the weirdest thing... Thot it was meant to be the opposite! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the jumper and it's made me crave banana toffee now. I don't know if you can still get it but it came in a slab sandwiched between plain toffee.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, Alex. I'm glad you like the bracelets. And that owl ring is so cute. Patch is perking up a bit, but the lump's still there so we're just keeping him comfy for now. xxx
ReplyDeleteThe word "floozy" is brilliant, I think it needs to be used a lot more!
ReplyDeleteAaw these are so sweet! It's rare you find nice wooden jewellery, these still manage to be quite delicate. Hmm I agree with your confusion about freebies/do I post about them etc... I've just had some accessories sent to me but they are just so darn cute I couldn't help myself. I think if it's an occasional feature and stock you genuinely like then it's ok and forgiveable :) jazzy ♥
ReplyDeleteOh! To answer your question, of course you can use the "Date A Girl Who Reads" piece :)
ReplyDeleteFloozy is definatly as good a word as trollop! Huzzah!
ReplyDeleteDarling,I think you look pretty, whatever the case.I hate those feeling fat times;one doesn't LOOK any different, but it's the unshakeable FEELING.Gah.I just wear loose garments.
Love those shorts, you are sooo cute in them!
I like the birdcage necklace best!
Love! xxx
Dearest Alex, I like floozy and trollop. They should do a trollop version.
ReplyDeleteI love your cashmere - trust me you won't go back to wool. Hope you're having a good week xx

ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Christina, they should do a trollop version too! Custom orders would be great..dreaming up some ideas already hehe.
ReplyDeleteYou don't look a bit like Rupert. You look great! Love the shorts and the shoes. It's sunny up here but bitterly cold.
ReplyDeleteI just had the same dilema re integrity that you did as I posted about something in my post but it was just me wanting to show off some cute wares I had discovered, like you. x
The necklace is so cute - congrats on winning. It was snowing in Scotland today - aaaaargh (need cashmere!). xx
ReplyDeleteI've the russian doll family necklace for about a year - it's my most worn necklace and gets the most compliments, discovered the jewellery in joythestore. Such great stuff!
ReplyDelete100% cashmere?! Result!!! A really nicely put-together outfit.
ReplyDeleteLove the jewellery - I am a fan of floozy, hussy, strumpet, slattern and trollop.

Ooooh love the jewellery! And I agree with Vix: you do look like a sexy golfer!
ReplyDeleteYeah, so much for spring, right? Stupid weather.
Thanks for the comment, and yes floozy is a fantastic word, almost just as good as trollop! Yay for brilliant words. And the cakes were lovely too, thank you. Do you do any baking? xxx
ReplyDeleteYup, Floozy's a goodie! I totally know what you mean about going for the thinner pic at the expense of looking like a normal human. Not that you don't but you catch my drift right?! xx
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to wear the spring dresses!
