Autumnal colours make me happy. I haven't stopped wearing them all year round; I never do. Browns, greens, oranges, rusts... I love them, they quite like me.
Know what else makes me happy? Elbow patches. And corduroy. I think I'm secretly a middle aged male teacher in disguise. I just need a pipe now. But yeah, check out my new skirt!
Yesterday's shopping trip was RUBBISH. I wanted black shorts: there were no black shorts. I wanted coloured jeans: they were all hideous. So I bought a very short skirt for me and a pair of rather lovely shoes for my mum, cos I'm nice like that.
Jumper - H&M
Inappropriately short skirt - Next clearance
Tights - M&S
Boots - swapped
Ring - Dorothy Perkins sale
Brolly - temporary loan from Lost Property. It will be MINE if no-one claims it soon.
Hurray for autumnal colours and hurray for corduroy skirts from Next! I have one too but mine is not inappropriately short and a most sensible knee length (but with a worryingly long slit up the back which always makes me paranoid.)
ReplyDeleteThe outfit is lovely! But it's totally over shadowed by the awesome brolly. I had a frog one with matching frog wellies when I was little :) I hope no one claims it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome umbrella.
ReplyDeleteLove the autumnal tones and adore those elbow patches - Mr Thrifty would approve too.
That simply is the greatest brolly in all the land. Amazing. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the colour of that jumper is lovely, and I love an elbow patch.
Coloured jeans wise, I ended up in Topshop (of all places!!) and got a fab pair of Burgundy coloured ones, they fit well and are good quality! Usually dislike Topshop but they were the best I found.
xx
Elbow patches!! Brolly of amazingness!!!
ReplyDeleteThe skirt looks fab! Love the brolly - it needs to be yours, every brolly deserves a good, loving home. I have a hankering for elbow patches - whats that all about??
ReplyDeleteI have a cat brolly somewhere which is like this - will try to find it for you!! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt, and the elbow patch jumper!! Perfect for autumn days.. xx
Love the first picture of you as Tiger - seriously awesome umbrella. Fingers crossed you live happily ever after together. Your new skirt and the boots look excellent together - Autumn is otherwise named 'boot season' in my house and I'm long overdue a new pair.
ReplyDeleteI really laughed when your photo came up in my reading list! What a great umbrella.
ReplyDeleteYou look fantastic in that outfit.
Inappropriately short skirt? No way, Alex. It looks drop dead sexy and just the job for such a bloody appaling day.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of idiot leaves such a cool umbrella behind? Their loss is your gain! xxx
I hate when shopping trips go badly. Lovely autumnal ensemble though- you should definitely keep the brolly! xx
ReplyDeleteThat brolly is amazing! I saw a kids Hello Kitty one earlier. Shame it was attatched to said kid.
ReplyDeleteI always have had a bad relationship with brollys. I either break them or loose them so try not to get too attached but you’ve made me want an animal shaped brolly JUST like that now.
ReplyDeletep.s Did you get my last typed letter? Sorry randomly asking, was just madly worrying it never arrived xxx
you're looking great in your indecently short skirt my dear, love it with those boots. I would like to try elbow patches but I don't have the swagger to look cool in them, I'd just look weird. I think its high time I dressed for autumn, now its unmistakeably arrived.
ReplyDeleteHehe love the brolly! :D
ReplyDeletelove the brolly, its made your photos even cuter.
ReplyDeleteThat rust colour REALLY suits you xx
love the colour scheme and how cute is that brolly xx
ReplyDeleteElla @ Belle Vintage
Yup, definitely the coolest brolly in brollydom! I love corduroy too, there's something very satisying about a nice cord skirt.
ReplyDeleteThat umbrella is an adorable way to brighten a rainy day.
ReplyDeleteLove the H&M jumper. Just looked online for one and it doesnt seem to be listed :( Jen
ReplyDeleteI so hope no-one claims that brolly so you can keep it. All you need is to graffiti it with a big 'fuck off' on the front and it is totally you xx
ReplyDeleteAlex, you're definitely onto something with elbow patches! I love autumnal colours too , they are the bestes!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.doobybrain.com/2011/01/14/shit-its-raining-umbrella/ If the 'Shit, it's raining' one is a bit too rude, how about getting 'Merde, il pleut'?
ReplyDeleteElbow patches are v cute. The skirt's not too short on you at all - you've got the pins for it. xx
ReplyDeleteI bet you could rock a pipe Alex! You look lovely today - autumnal in a good way, though I am not liking how fast the nights are drawing in.
ReplyDeleteHow annoying that they only make the best brollies in kid sizes :(
Nice outfit and cute umbrella!

I adore elbow patches too and corduroy- so does my boyfriend so your top has two London-based fans!
Liking the skirt, sorry the shopping was a wash out. It's done naff all but rain here this week- SIGH. Even had to change at lunch time today because my jeans got so wet walking home for lunch!
ReplyDeleteYay for elbow patches, autumnal colours, and corduroy!
