The Chop

Wednesday, 2 December 2015

I braved hell last week.

I haven't been to the hairdressers for I don't know how long. 18 months? Probably longer than that. I hate people touching my hair and I can't abide small talk. I'm sure some of you can think of nothing nicer than being faffed over but I loathe it. Two of the hairdressers came over and stroked my hair and said how lovely it was. TWO. I genuinely had to fight my punching impulse. Uninvited hair-stroking is not ok, people.

Also did I mention I hate small talk?

The deed had to be done though. I have quite a lot of hair and it's also incredibly tatty. I don't have to do anything, it just gets into enormous (and painful) tangles. When it's as long as it was, it was a neverending battle to de-tatt it. And yup, it had got quite long.

I got it chopped.

Better pictures will follow at some point but for now, yay, hair chop!

  1. Yay hair cut! I bet it feels quite strange losing so much length! Looking good Alex x

  2. soooo much less time spent drying and brushing and trying to make it do stuff. You've inspired me to get the chop and have it neatened up x

  3. Yay! As much as I loved my long hair it eventually got to the point where I couldn't do anything without it tangling so it had to go. And now it's getting wild again. I dunno how you feel about cutting your own hair but since mine is longish it's so easy to do - all you need is some hairdressing scissors from Superdrug and a quick online tutorial and you're good to go :)

  5. I recommend you come and have your hair cut in Suffolk, with only one exception I've never had a particularly chatty hairdresser.
Your hair looks lovely both super long and long. I've just gone shorter and now I have a feeling it'll just keep getting shorter and shorter still!

  6. I used to be terrible at the hairdressers but I've gotten better over the past couple of years and now I love going to the hairdressers now! I love the relief that comes with getting all of the weight taken out of my hair. I love how long your hair got too - you do have gorgeous hair Alex! I like the new length too - I look forward to seeing more photos! - Tasha

  7. Yay to hair chopping and less tangles! I'm exactly the same - hate chitchat and unsolicited hair touching. I've finally found a hairdresser who doesn't do unnecessary hairdresser small talk and can cope with my stupidly thick hair so I can keep a short haircut. When it's short I don't get uninvited touchers- wooh!
