I'm back! I'm sorry about the lack of blogging this week. The course I was on was brilliant and utterly fascinating but it was pretty much non-stop and left me totally worn out afterwards. The weekend has been equally busy, what with shopping all day yesterday and then celebrating my mum's birthday today so I haven't had a minute to fire up the laptop.
I need some sleep before my brainpower returns so in the meantime here's a very quick outfit post, just something I wore for dinner on the course last week. I've had the top for ages but I don't think I've blogged it before. It's a really tricky shape for me to wear - I've tucked it in and tweaked it a bit here. I know it still looks a bit boxy but it's tons better than the unflattering shape it falls in naturally. The underlayer is quite clingy and the fabric is gathered and a bit pouffy around the hips - not a good look on me!! If I'd tried it on before I bought it I might have thought twice about it but it was one of those things that I saw on the rail (only £10 in the sale!) and loved so much I just had to buy it.
Top - Uttam @ Dorothy Perkins
Cardi - Hawkshead
Skirt - H&M
ps - dress code was "tidy" - how on earth do you interpret that? I figured that as long as I didn't have my skirt tucked in my knickers I'd be ok...
What a glorious print, Alex, reminds me of the Vogue blouses from the 1970's. It fits pretty perfectly to me, not boxy or unflattering at all. Liking the sweet topknot, too. xxx
ReplyDeleteI just love that top. What a great print.
ReplyDeleteThat print is amazing, it looks perfect with the body con skirt. I have that skirt too x
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's unflattering either, you look lovely. Hmm, 'tidy'?! I wouldn't ever like to think I looked untidy, but 'tidy'? Sounds so boring!
ReplyDeletetidy? what a strange choice of dress code!!! Love the blouse print :)

Ha! Tidy reminds me of 'nice and clean and tidy' which is what our grandma used to make us be if she was looking after us. Ie no play-dough in our hair, my little ponies washing their manes in the sink etc.
ReplyDeleteTidy? That's very odd choice of dress code. Anyway, loving the top. Beautiful print.
ReplyDeleteI adore that top, I would have bought it immediately too. In fact I'm annoyed I never saw it! It looks great tucked in, I know exactly what you mean about those peasant style tops. Very few girls look much good in them, but as long as you tuck it into a fitted skirt they are very flattering x
ReplyDeleteyay glad ur back :)
ReplyDeleteand as everyone else has already said - the top is fab, not boxey at all...
Loving the skirt too... have V recenty got into dresses, next step skirts...
xx
Haha, tidy? Well think you've done a top job of interpreting that dress code! Love the print on your blouse, so pretty! Glad to hear the course went well :)
ReplyDeleteLove the print! 'Tidy' dresscode? Maybe a housedress...?

Was gonna send you a wee email tomorrow if you hadn't blogged. Was hoping you were just tired out.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a nice birthday for your mam. Love the print on the top. I don't think you look boxy at all. In fact I think it looks really good, tucked in it makes you look busty but slim.
x
Oh what a lovely print :) I've missed you!
ReplyDeleteI think your outfit is very tidy and that shirt looks fine lady :) I dunno how you buy things without trying them on though - I try everything on. Is that weird? Haha. I just like to be sure - things look SO different on sometimes.
Glad you're back chickie! xox
Lovely top and it looks gorgeous on you - well worn!
ReplyDeleteWas the person who wrote that Welsh as we tend to say tidy for good, nice, well done, dressed well - it is a catch all word!
Wow it is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous top on you, and I think you've styled it perfectly.
ReplyDeleteGlad the course was good, I know what you mean about feeling knackered by the end though.
xx
What a beautiful print, I'm a sucker for doing that kind of thing too. You look lovely, glad you had such an interesting week! xx
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE that print - how amazing, and it looks lovely on, and i love your hair like that too :)
ReplyDeleteDear Alex, the top is gorgeous, I love the print. You could always have it altered if necessary?
ReplyDeleteGlad to have you back - I've missed your blogs and your comments xx
I would have bought this piece for the print alone, I absolutely adore it. I don't think it looks unflattering at all, I think you look very sophisticated and your hair looks lovely tied up too x
ReplyDeleteSo not boxy. I love the top, can see why you'd have been hard pushed to put it back!
ReplyDeleteThe print is beautiful! And you look so gorgeous. I'm not sure I've ever looked 'tidy' xx
ReplyDeleteThe top is really unusual - I like it! I hardly ever wear prints for some reason so I'm making a conscious effort to start looking out for some pieces lol.. PS - I'm a newbie visitor to your blog - Hi!! xx
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is gorgeous, what a fabulous print!
ReplyDelete"Tidy"??? Who the heck came up with that? What on earth were they expecting people to wear?
Dearest Alex, thank you for your comment. Everyone is continually trying to talk me into the idea that having a baby is a good one, including The Actor. I love my life as it is so it's a tough one. No holiday plans as yet - he was going to take me to Goa but he got a job and starts a big series at the end of Feb in Manchester for three months so it will be after that now.

tidy is a very odd dress code! I love the blouse! x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful print, I love things like that!
ReplyDeleteLove the blouse, it looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteTidy is a pretty lame dress code, although now I keep thinking of when a lad says 'She's tidy' as in being fanciable!
Glad you enjoyed the course. The top is lovely, really like the print. xx
ReplyDeleteThe only dress code I understand is "formal". But I'm always overdressed anyway!
ReplyDeleteLove that blouse, the print is heavenly.New,different styles/shapes take a bit of getting used to,for sure.I think you look just lovely!
Love! XXX
That blouse is just lovely x
ReplyDeleteI do love that top! I know what you mean though about some things just not sitting right - I am a odd shape and things never sit right on me!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I bought a really pretty dress in Dorothy Perkins at the weekend, can't wait to wear it. I forget how good Dorothy Perkins clothes are some times! x
Love that blouse.
ReplyDeleteTidy...ha ha ha... I would have had no chance whatsoever!
