Green And Grey

Monday, 17 January 2011

So then, back to work again! I'm still not entirely recovered but if I'd stayed off any longer the buildup of work would have been utterly ridiculous (as opposed to today's mild craziness). To lift my spirits I got my legs out. Are shorts and heels appropriate for the office? In my world they are.

(vain I know, but I'm liking how long my legs look in these photos!)

Shorts & cardi - Gap sale
Vest top - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Kurt Geiger via charity shop
Necklaces - Sunday Girl Accessories (initial) & Accessorize (beaded)
Rings - H&M and Dorothy Perkins

Can't believe it's taken me so long to wear these shoes. I think it's because I'm not a fan of peeptoe shoes. You might well ask why I bought this pair then. The answer(s) would be - a) they are green, b) they're Kurt Geiger and c) they were cheap. Also d) I didn't buy them, someone else did, hence me not actually remembering the price. £5ish? Cheap anyway. And as they're such a dark shade of green I can wear them with black tights and the peeptoe isn't that noticeable. Perfect.

ps - don't know if I was quite clear with the hunky man references in the last post. The one in the coat is my all-time object of lust, Henry Cavill. Oli Townend is the one on the grey horse.

You're all more than welcome at the dream house/shop by the way!

  1. Your legs are so slim and slender, the shorts look amazing! I think if you can pull them off (which you cleary can) then it is perfectly okay.

I don't own a single pair of peep toe shoes. It's always a bit of a thirll when you (well in this case someone else) stumbles accross a designer in a Charity Shop :) x

  2. Love the grey and green together, not something I'd really think of doing myself. Those shoes are so lovely too but I'd never be able to wear those heels all day for work, even though I have a desk job! Ha!

  5. KURT GEIGER via charity shop?! I'm going to the wrong charity shops, clearly! Love those shorts- I think it's entirely appropriate for the office as long as tights are worn underneath and you don't have a stuffy old fart of a boss (which you presumably don't, as you like your job too much!

  7. With legs like yours it would be wrong NOT to wear shorts and heels to the office. Those shoes are a fab find, I love peep toes and don't own nearly enough. xxx

  8. I hope that shorts are appropriate office wear, as I wore my new ones for work twice last week. I felt weird about it and don't know if I'll wear them again, but mine are more casual looking than yours so maybe that's the problem.

I love peeptoe shoes, and I don't have any! Actually I do have some flats, but no heels.

  9. There is just no escaping the fact that heels make your legs look better. It's one of those facts of life that children should be taught at school - "Here's how you put a condom on and also heels make your legs look awesome."

I kind of like that this outfit looks dressy but still looks really comfortable at the same time, maybe I need to investigate this shorts and tights phenomenon!

  12. The green heels are fab. I don't hugely go for peep-toes either, but I do love them worn with coloured tights. Those ones would look very elegant worn with pale grey. Another thing you can do is look out for vintage clip-on earrings to add sparkle to the front if you want to wear them for evening x

  25. Love the short and tights combo. My close friend used to do this in the winter a few years ago and I love the look! Also - err I think you might have inspired Lauren Conrad's recent outfit ;)

  26. Alex you look bloody gorgeous missus!

I LOVE the grey & green combo - I'm sure I've mentioned that grey's my favourite colour :p I'd love to be able to pull off those shorts like you do - check out those legs! (Wasn't it you that thought you couldn't wear shorts not all that long ago..? Sorry if I've confused you with someone else - if it was you, how happy are you that you realised otherwise!?)

I've got that big green DPs ring - definitely don't wear it enough.. Thanks for reminding me of it!

  27. Looking hot for work! Loving the legs out, loving the shorts and LOVING the shoes. I have similar isues with peep toe avoidance, it's my greatest fear when picking shoes off a display- that I haven't noticed a peep toe.

Like your theory- looking good, feeling good, or at least better.
