In which I am not amused

Wednesday 3 August 2011

So it's going to be one of those days is it? The list of things getting on my nerves is long and varied but this dress is featuring highly on it.

I have been waiting to wear it for ages now. I picked it up on a whim during the NW bloggers meet up (when I wasn't being distracted by Challenge Anneka jumpsuits) and it's been hanging up from the picture rail in my bedroom ever since, tempting me. It just hasn't been hot enough since then to wear it but the forecast looked promising for today, so on it went.

But the weather is CRAP today. The sun has disappeared and it's not even warm. I could ignore that (hey, I often shiver in the cold when taking outfit photos. I am tough, grrr). But what's the point in wearing something weather inappropriate if the fecking photos don't even look good? This has turned out to be a very wrinkly frock. It doesn't even look like it fits properly and it really does, trust me on this. I am not impressed. Look at me not being impressed:

I so wanted it to look nice. Bah. Think I'll chalk this one up as a fail.

Dress - Cow Vintage, looks handmade
Cardi - New Look
Sandals - Dorothy Perkins
Earrings - Eclectic Eccentricity, present

  1. Yes you're doing a good impression of not being impressed!
Shame the weather didn't turn out as expected (but what can you expect!); it's still red hot here.

  2. Alex, that's a really lovely dress, but such a shame that it wrinkles like that. What material is it?

It's rather gorgeous weather down here but I'm not sure how long it'll last ! Hope it improves for you x

  3. It looks nice and unusual, but I'm with you, it's got to be comfy. Ebay sale maybe, make a profit from your annoyance?? xx

  4. That frock is really pretty, howsabout sticking a slip under it, stopping the wrinkles? I've got a load of vintage ones, give us a shout if you need one and I'll pop one in the post after I'm back from The Big Chill (this weekend's extravaganza).
How weird about your weather, it's in the high twenties again today, trust me to decide to embark on another humungous pair of patchwork curtains instead of lounging on the lawn. xxx

  6. Shame, it looks lovely, try a slip or lining it if you are really keen, it often helps with creases, (though does nothing fo the weather)

  8. Bless you Alex!

You look lovely, yes its creased a little but thats how most of my clothes end up. Shame it's cold though. As Vix says it's lovely here, very warm. It always is when I'm working in a little training room with no windows. (typical eh!)

    Cute sandals too.

    X x

  9. Love the dress, the pattern is really pretty. Shame about the creases, I have a dress that does exactly the same even if I only sit down for one minute! It's all very annoying x

  10. I especially love the earrings. They are just the perfect touch.
We've had unreasonably hot weather here. It is chilly at night so when I leave for work in the morning it is cool. By midday, the heat is well above comfortable! It is like I need midday attire instead of one outfit for the whole work day.

I hope the weather warms up and I'm sorry it is such a wrinkley frock. Maybe a lot of starch will do?

  11. Man I hate wrinkly clothing - point blank refuse to wear linen now! Although weirdly ironing is one of my fave things... Bright side, your hair looks v pretty! :)

  13. I am always appearing like I've slept in my clothes, wrinkles are so annoying especially when I iron so often! Your dress does look lovely, I think wrinkles may be part of its charm.

  14. I love that frock but I understand how you feel. Sometimes stuff seems to be wrinkled no matter how much you iron it. I hope your day got better x

  16. I love your not impressed face too.

    Your hair looks good.

It's been 30 degrees here but apparently it's going to piss down tomorrow. I've spent the week sorting out my summer clothes. Typical! xx

  17. Such a shame, this dress wrinkles as it it so pretty. I often find this with clothes, they look great on the hanger but are completely impractical to wear.

  18. Naughty dress!! Impressed with your unimpressed face... xx

  19. Oh no! I hate it when dresses do this. My new Topshop one does it too, but in it's defense (!) it is made of linenish material. Could you sew an underskirt into it maybe to stop the wrinkling?
I think it will be a great dress for winter with some burgundy tights and a big chunky cardi!

  23. I can only presume it’s probably the fabric that is causing most of the problems for you. Maybe give it another try with a few layers in the autumn?

I don't know how/or if that could work after all I am no style expert, but I hate to think that a dress that has so many things going for it has somewhat been a disaster for you x

  24. a shame the dress wrinkles so much because it's very pretty. I have a few clothes that does this and it really does take the fun out of wearing them
