One Day

Saturday 15 January 2011

When I win the lottery (preferably the Euromillions) I will own something like this

And it shall be a themed bookshop with a library full of crime books, a drawing room full of ladylike novels, a boudoir full of racier ones, a kitchen full of cookbooks, a nursery full of children's books, a study full of divine stationery and much much more.
(you'll have to imagine the books in place)

And there shall be a proper teashop attached where customers can eat disgustingly large slices of cake and drink tea and champagne out in the garden. It will not sell cupcakes. It will sell fairy cakes because that's what they're called. But mostly just proper big slices of cake.

And subject to there being enough outbuildings, perhaps a craft shop chockfull of tempting goodies. And a vintage shop where the staff don't look down their noses at you if you go in wearing jeans.

And I shall have ponies at home and an eventer that Oli Townend can ride for me because he is rather good and rather attractive.

And I shall also have a hunky outdoorsy sort of man who will go to watch eventing with me. But not a dog because I don't like them.

Well, it's nice to dream, isn't it?

  4. Can I have a granny flat in one of the wings or the attic please?
I would be around every weekend anyway even if I didn't live there so it'd only make sense for you to charge me rent!
WHY doesn't someone create this haven of tranquility?

  5. What a dream - such a bookshop would indeed be heaven, and I'm up there with you on the Fairy Cakes - we're British and our little iced cakes are Fairy Cakes not American cupcakes. xxx

  10. You'd have to get him to redecorate that sitting room (preferably in something very skimpy) as I know you don't do pink.
Hoorah for the fairy cake, let's ban the "C" word. xxx

  14. I'm sitting here nodding sagely.

I went to a cottage in Robin Hood's Bay this weekend and it was so sweet and well decorated, I'm going to put up pictures of the kitchen because it's EXACTLY what I want. And when I win the lottery I will buy it and live there with my two (future) sausage dogs, Archibald and Benedict.

  17. Aaah gorgeousness! I'd have to agree 99% with your vision (sorry, lost me slightly on the pink wallpaper!), I'd just die for a library in my big old dream house - next to the gym and the maid's quarters possibly, hehe :)

  18. Can I run the vintage store? I don't mind jeans as I wear them myself! Love the idea of themed book rooms, there should also be a map room with travel books x

  19. :) I love how you divided all the books in different rooms! And a vintage store is a great idea, plus, everything could be cheap because you will be super rich anyways from having won all that money in lottery! :)
