Mellow Yellow

Monday 25 July 2011

Oh I was having woes trying to work out an outfit last night. Does anyone else find it hard to get dressed sometimes? I wonder if I'm thinking about it too much or if my clothing choice really is that limited. I tried on about 60% of my wardrobe and nothing looked right, so I went to bed in a huff and chucked this on this morning instead. It was discarded last night due to the shirt being far too long and looking weird but it turns out all I needed to do was knot it up a bit.

Ponytail attempts to take over my face...

Shorts - H&M (less glamorous version of my red pair)
Shirt - Matalan, courtesy of a giftcard won on Jen's blog
Shoes - Next (glad I used a voucher on them as the exact same shoes are now in Primark for about 1/3 of the price!)
Ring - New Look
Necklace - H&M, present from Char

It might have been hastily chucked together but it's nice and summery and, I think, a good alternative to floaty frocks in the sunny but slightly windy weather we're enjoying at the moment. I braved the breeze to have a blissful half hour tea break outside today. Book, homemade apple flapjack and sunshine - a little slice of morning perfection.

  1. ooh i like it!! the shirt is great with a knot in it, and those shorts are still great, be they the 'less-glam cousin of the reds' or not!

  4. What a fabulous look, Alex! You really do have killer legs and I adore Char's necklace so much.
I cannot get an outfit ready the night before, it only takes a song I've heard on the radio or a weird dream to have feeling in a completely different mood. x

  5. A fabulous look. Love the necklace and owl ring lots. Like Vix, I couldn't possibly get my act together to sort out an outfit the night before. I always have to do it in a last minute rush in the morning (sigh...).

I love lemony colours tho' I'm not sure if they love me...but those brilliant 'banana' shoes of dinoprincesschar, ooo, I could wear those every day!
Will try and get those bits in the post this week!

  13. What stunning legs you ave Alex. You should show them off more.

    Loving the yellow blouse too.

I never have any idea what I'm going to wear unless it's a special occasion, even then it's been known to change at the last minute!

  15. Looks great. I think it's harder to dress for work when it's sunny. Hard to be summery but still office appropriate. xx

  17. YES! I posted today about having that kind of thing going on, mainly due to being in a rush, but gah sometimes the clothes just play tricks on you!!

  18. Lovely yellow shirt, it looks great knotted and paired with those shorts. I get so frustrated with my wardrobe that I can't bear to put anything on. Nothing of mine ever seems to look right with anything else. Most outfits are usually what I throw on in a hissy.
Flapjack and a book in the sunshine sounds perfect!

  19. You look lovely, I really like your hair in a ponytail.

That ring looks like it's made out of white chocolate!

  20. I find it nigh on impossible to get dressed MOST days. Literally. I do try & consider the evening before what I'm going to wear, & sometimes this helps me a little bit, sometimes it doesn't help in the slightest - it just means that my stressed-out-ness is extended from that point, instead of just limited to the morning!

You look bloody lovely Alex :) I remember the days when you insisted you couldn't/wouldn't wear shorts - I'm glad you reevaluated!

Thanks for your comment btw - I seriously wish I would stop seeing things I'm tempted by in the sales.. It's getting a bit ridiculous now :/

  22. I struggle with outfits all the time! I do wish i had better legs so I could wear cute shorts!

  23. I take your point entirely.. I actually have 0.2 days of holidays until September, which is quite ridiculous (we only have 20 days a year which include bank holidays and Xmas break) and my boss is likely to get pissy with all my pretend doctor's visits and things. I do think this job isn't doing me too many favours as there's no progression and it's not the sector I want to be in, so people might question why I'm still there. =\ xx

  24. Ah pretty yellow, and I love the ponytail on you, even if it does have a life of its own!

  25. Yellow is absolutey my favourite colour, yet I own hardly any items of yellow clothing. This must be remedied forthwith.
I LOVE those shoes- I saw them in primark this morning actually but I wimped out as they looked very high- I'm like Bambi on ice in anything over 2ins!

  26. WOW Alex i love this outfit especially the necklace.
I have days where none of my clothes are right, i think it stems from having too much choice xx

  27. Oooh cool look! Yep, have hundreds of clothes but sometimes not the right thing available!

  28. I love the shirt and shorts on you. The shoes are lovely too.

I can never sort out an outfit the night before and I still have trouble even though I have so much stuff. Probably because I can't see most of it! xx

  29. I really wish I could pull shorts off the way you do, my legs are helplessly short and stumpy in the worst way possible x
