Red Touches

Tuesday 28 June 2011

I'm in quite the scatty mood today. 10 hours sleep in 2 days and an extremely late night baking session will do that to me. Thank goodness I pulled an outfit together before I went to sleep last night or there's a good chance I'd be at work in my pyjamas today. Although this is Liverpool so I probably wouldn't have looked out of place. Girls here really do go out shopping in their pjs - with bright orange faces and their hair in giant rollers. I will never understand it.

I love this cardigan a quite ridiculous amount. Cats! Rings! Bags! WINE! Four of my favourite things.

Cardi - Topshop, present from my lovely Char
Skirt - H&M, blog sale
Shoes & necklace worn as bracelet - Dorothy Perkins
Vintage clutch - present from the fabulous Margaret.

I think I went to about three ballet lessons when I was little. The cute wraparound cardigan interested me more than the dancing did, so I can't remember anything about the actual dancing positions. Perhaps my love of Strictly Come Dancing has paid off though - my arms look quite ballroomy here.

Do you like how I've matched my plaster to my outfit? Tres chic. I grated the crap out of my fingers whilst attempting to clean the zester part of the grater at 2.30am this morning. Sad face. Any handy hints on how to clean zesters properly without injuring yourself?

Glastonbury was full of orange Scouse lasses with elaborate hair do's. Very odd! xxx

  15. Oh gosh I love this outfit.
I lived in Liverpool for five years and I still work there now and I have never understood the PJ thing. What on EARTH is it all about? And the curlers? Do they have no shame?

Thsi is my favourite photo in the world (and long time screen saver) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_ovJS1Em-6dg/RwtrehCYmbI/AAAAAAAAPVE/1sizpzY87WA/s1600-h/stuck1.jpg from http://spluch.blogspot.com/2007/10/girl-gets-stuck-in-drain.html

  16. Hmm not even sure which part the zester is, but I did manage to grate my fingernail partly off once. Yup there was screaming and a trip to A&E (they know me too well in there!). Loving this outfit, the skirt is rather fabby :)

  20. You look truly scrumptious today! That cardie is just wonderful, and I love your ballroom moves how elegant you are... Hope you get more sleep these next few days. How do you cope with so little sleep, I would fail to function and just fall in a heap on the floor?

  21. I adore this look on you. I own no midi skirts as I feel odd in them. You look lovely in your skirt, very elegant and ladylike, especially with the pearls and clutch and lippy. One of my fave looks on you. On a par with your hot red shorts look :D

  22. I absolutely LOVE your cardigan, it's amazing!! Where did you find such a beauty? Your shoes are incredibly cute too.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who tends to bake at 2am. Somehow it's more fun in the middle of the night, even if you do grate your fingers! (been there!)

  23. I love this outfit! So elegant & pretty! I can never believe when you see girls with their hair in curlers or in their pajamas walking around liverpool city centre! Yet at night they are never underdressed... I don't understand how they can be such polar opposites!

  35. Yowza, you really are pulling some great looks together lately Alex. I know I have said it before, but I do love how you look with your hair up - we can see more of your pretty face (*sounding like a nanna*). Doesn't the clutch go so well with your red shoes and lippy xx

  36. Fabulous cardi! I think your hair works really well like that with the outfit.

I'm having my first giveaway Alex come and have a look! xx

  37. Fab fab outfit! Love it, especially bag and shoes. Cardigan is ace but the disembodied arms on it are just a wee bit scary! All I remember about ballet was 'good toes/naughty toes' and pretending to be a fairy.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments on my blog, am a bit behind on everything blog related but will make a proper perusal of yours soon.

Oh, and you don't clean that side of the grater, you just mangle a sponge in it and chuck it in a temper. You need a zester as in that the little instrument which has similarities in look to a blackhead remover. Works far better.

  38. Ah, sorry about your finger! And for someone so busy and tired you look pretty darn awesome :) Aboslutely polished and beautiful! :)

  45. You look so elegant and ladylike! Amazing cardi too, and I don't even like cats. I do like wine though.

I love the Liverpool PJs and rollers look. I went to stay with my Scouse mate and as we were driving around I kept pointing out of the window and shouting "Look, another one!" "There's one!" "Look, look, it's a lion driving a car!" My mate's reaction was along the lines of "Nickkkkkkler, shudduuuup!" (Typed Scouse accent win.)
