A half wooden car!  Exciting eh?

I went to a vintage fair at the weekend.  Extreme lack of fundage meant that I didn't buy anything but it was the most glorious sunny day, so this didn't matter so much.  It wasn't about the shopping anyway.

It was about having a picnic:

Alas, no ginger beer, but corned beef sandwiches wrapped in greaseproof paper are quite retro, non?  Best ignore the sneaky packet of mini Party Rings...

And lying on the picnic blanket reading and taking random (bad) pictures of the back of my head:

And trying on silly hats:

And deciding which of the cars we'd most like to be driven around in.  Ffion favoured this Alvis:

Modelling her lovely Cath Kidston frock

And looking admiringly at the lovely things:

Who needs money?

  1. They say the best things in life are free

  2. Oh man this is my idea of heaven. Don't think i would have been able to resist spending some pennies! x

  3. I love the photo of you with that seriously cool hat. What a great way to spend the weekend! xxx

  4. That looks like a fab day, and you're looking gorgeous (as usual)! Xo

  5. I'm so sad I couldn't come. Make them do it again! Husband made me shop for tiles & then little sock vomited.

  6. LOVE your lipstick, which one do you use? This looks such a gorge day out and I think your frocks are gorgeous! You do indeed look cool in the hat pic. Wish I could have joined thee. xx

  7. what a brilliant day out, just the photos are good enough for me.... no spending required. Love that leather bag and small hat (blame the hat).

  8. I don't think the Secret 7 would have been averse to mini party rings, had they been around then!

Also, your head is not big. Well it might be, mine is, but I don't think we look freakish or anything. Just had to buy my son an adult cycle helmet, and he's only 7!

Looks like a lovely day out despite lack of funds.

  9. Never ignore the party rings... they were round in the 50s and there's a good reason why they're still around today: BEST BISCUITS EVER.

  10. You both look fab and what a perfect sunny weekend for a festival and picnic.

  11. You look lovely and YES to vintage and picnics!

Look like a fantastic day. What's not to love about half wooden cars, picnics and floral dresses?

  13. looks like a fabulous day. pinics, pretty things and pictures of the back of your head (that's not an easy thing to do is it? I've gotten serious arm ache trying to get a good one!)

  14. looks like you had a great time, who needs to spend money eh?!

Picnics, sunshine, good company and a little bit of vintage sounds heavenly.

  15. Ahh this looks like such a nice vintage fair! Very picturesque! And you have a lovely picturesque frock to match it it! And I know what you mean about the sunshine...even whilst window shopping it can still put you in the best of moods. Enjoy it while you can...rain is inevitable!

  17. Love that outfit, the dress and the flowers in your hair look gorgeous. I would love to go to a Vintage Fair like this soon. Window shopping can be just as fun as real shopping. Well, almost. =)
