A Gaudy New Coat Thing

Wednesday, 29 October 2014

I'm not going to entitle this blog post "Two ways to wear a skater dress" because I'm sure you're all more than capable of dressing yourselves by now and can do it perfectly well without my help. Should you require it, well, I tend to wear my dresses by, y'know, putting them on my body. Not exactly a novel technique but it serves me well.

Having said that, a plain black skater dress is undeniably a most useful thing to own.  Et voila, worn here with my lovely green hedgehoggy jumper and favourite Mel flats for a day at work.

Then glammed up a tad. If by glamming up, we mean wearing something that could conceivably be classed as either a boxing robe or dressing gown. I shall christen it the Kimono Coat. Kimoat? Comono? Nahhh.

It's reversible! Bit more boxing robe-ish when worn with the black outside...

I'll stick to it the other way round I think. Pretty! Not dressing gowny at all, honest.

So many different Flick Flack colourways but these are still my fave.

Painty hair - occupational hazard at the moment

Brand New Bag

Wednesday, 15 October 2014

I don't have very much to talk about at the moment.

Haven't got any new clothes to show off, haven't been making or baking anything, haven't had time for any interesting thoughts on life. Haven't really been doing anything except painting a lot and giving myself inadvertent ombre locks by dipping the ends of my ponytail in the paint tin.

I bought a new bag though.

*makes whooping new-bag sort of noises*

It's massive.  All bags should be massive.  I have so much crap to cart around with me that I simply can't cope with anything smaller. Minimalism ain't my bag. Muahaha, d'you see what I did there?

(sorry, paint fumes are clearly getting to me)

It was a proper bargain too. £15! It's been drawing admiring glances from all the gang at work.  They may also have been admiring my matchy-matchyness as it turns out to be exactly the same colour as my gloriously tomato coloured flats. What a happy coincidence.

Bag - Matalan sale (but it's sold out now so you can't have one. Soz!)

Frumpy Florals

Friday, 9 May 2014

I'm a little undecided about this frock. Bit frumpy? Maybe. Am I massively bothered by this? Not really. Can't win them all.

The pics were taken on Tuesday when I was so tired after a monstrously busy Bank Holiday weekend at work that getting dressed at all was a triumph in itself. I was strongly tempted to roll into work in my Kermit onesie.  Oh, so tempted.

The frock looked better at 8.30am when it was freshly ironed and I hadn't sat down in it. Then I did and I discovered that it wrinkles like a mofo. Oh well.  A crinkly dress is not the end of the world, is it?  Especially when you bought it for buttons in a charity shop.

It's very pretty and it matches my jaunty red shoes, so that's good enough for me.

Spot the safety pin above though... I sense this frock is designed for someone with a longer torso or larger boobs than me. Pins were definitely required to preserve my modesty!

Happy Days

Tuesday, 10 September 2013

I feel like the White Rabbit at the moment. I'm constantly running round going "no time, no time! Hello, good bye, I'm late, I'm late!"

Anyone who's ever met me in real life will already know that I'm very rarely punctual anyway but the lack of time thing is just getting ridiculous recently. I'm always dashing round and I'm never getting anything done. It's a struggle to find decent clothes and fling them on in the morning, let alone try and blog about them.

I'm therefore very pleased with this outfit. It took no thought whatsoever and, even if I do say so myself, it looks cute! Pretty new frock, bright cardi and super comfy cute ballet pumps. What's not to like?

I rather love this dress. It's blatantly a size too small (much as I'm trying to lose weight, I'm still not a size 12) but what you can't see is that it's got a mostly open back, so the zip only has to fasten up a short way and then my cardi can cover up all the back flab. Ace!

I love the neckline. I'm always a fan of something a bit different.

I'm also a complete convert to rubber shoes. Who'd have thought it? I imagined they'd be all squeaky and leave me with sweaty feet but I'm pleased to report that it's a no on both counts. They might be cheap but they're well made, so comfy and, after having walked round a rainy Dublin in them for three days, I'm pleased to report that I've found the magical thing: waterproof ballet pumps!
